Award presented in recognition of distinguished contributions

to the game of golf and one’s community

Hall of Fame Qualifications:

Excellence as a player is not a requisite or requirement for the award.

Persons suggested do NOT have to be fine players or well known. Their acts of distinguished sportsmanship should be over a period of years.

The award is NOT for contributions to the welfare of golf or for overcoming physical handicaps. Such elements may enter into consideration.

The award is simply for distinguished sportsmanship in golf and community in addition to distinguished unselfish contributions.

Sportsmanship can be defined as the demonstration of personal qualities that we practice in our daily lives. Thus, it is more nearly a manner and an attitude than it is a particular action, i.e., fair play, self-control and self-denial, generosity of spirit, manner of playing or behaving so as to show respect for all, and unselfishness.

Hall of Fame Committee:

Hall of Fame Chairman selects her committee

The Process:

  1. Resumes may be obtained from the EDWGA Hall of Fame chairman, or any club representative.
  2. EDWGA member nominates a particular person who meets the qualifications for this honor.
  3. EDWGA member gives resume form to candidate to complete.
  4. Candidate returns resume to member as soon as possible, who in turn submits it to the Hall of Fame Chairman. Deadline would be June or early July.
  5. Hall of Fame committee reviews resumes.
  6. Hall of Fame ceremony takes place in September or October.
  7. Hall of Fame committee coordinates the induction ceremony with the EDGA.
  8. There is no set number of year(s) when the induction ceremony would take place, as it all depends on the quality of candidates submitted as to who would meet qualifications.
